The first President of the Republic of China in 1912. He was responsible for ending the Qing dynasty rule of China. He created China's first modern army.
He started his career in the Huai Army.
He attempted to reinstate the hereditary monarchy with himself as the Emperor in 1915. When he passed away it ended the China's central authority of the Beiyang government.
He had 17 sons and 15 daughters. He married Yu Yishang and Yuan Shikai.
His great-grandson is poet Li-Young Lee.
